Neo-Nowhere: A Brief Summary Of The Setting Empty Neo-Nowhere: A Brief Summary Of The Setting

Neo-Nowhere...The only slightly more modern utopia of...well, wherever the hell this place is. Anyhoo...

The world of Neo-Nowhere is a simple one, yet intricate in the same sense. Those who inhabit it, make it what it is; more literally than you would expect. The city itself has no end, and many find themselves walking around the world of Neo-Nowhere, only to end up back in the same place after some period of time. It is as long, and as short as those who traverse it wish it to be. Another unique aspect of Neo-Nowhere, is that in this reality, certain individuals have been graced with power. Those who wield it do with it what they will, be it for good or evil, but as far as the explanation for these powers goes, and how this reality allows such dangerous individuals to prowl about, that remains a mystery. In this sense, it is unique to any other modern cluster of civilization.

In every other sense, however, it is completely the same as other large-scale cities. It has the same schools, the same shopping malls, the same hair salons, the same zombies...Wait, zombies? I guess a little explanation is in order.

Zombies: the flesh eating scourge of the living world, brought to life by a number of humanities foolish tamperings into the unknown. De-evolving viruses, voodoo mind control, parasites, and let's not forget Jersey Shore...All of these proven causes of zombie infestations/outbreaks/apocalypses/etc. These zombies, once normal human beings, now reanimated into blood thirsty flesh-bags, now lumber along the endless streets of the city, looking for another victim's skull to make out with, and rip open like a bag of chips. Where did these rotten things come from? Easy. From even more rotten individuals (more on that later).

You see (not to make the plot more complex or anything...), in the city of Neo-Nowhere lies a power source that acts as the brain, and heart of the city. It powers absolutely everything that goes on in the city, and is rumored to have even greater benefits to the individual who takes control of it for themselves. The "Philosopher's Heart" as it has been dubbed by many people who seek it out, is an item that grants the user limitless control over their powers, as well as a hidden foresight that allows those who hold it to see all, feel all, and ultimately be all before all is even considered to be all. Basically, you can become existence before existence itself even becomes existence. Crazy stuff, right? Obviously, an item of such great power has been hunted down before, but never has someone gotten so close...

An underground organization (typical, right) brought together by a man of great, yet unknown power, sends his hoodlums to spy on certain denizens of Neo-Nowhere, to find out if they hold any information on The Philosopher's Heart or it's whereabouts. Occasionally, he'll sink his teeth into one of these individuals, in an attempt to get them to join this ominous cult following for a taste of the ultimate power that lies within the one Philosopher's Heart. When and where these initiations take place is completely unplanned, but slowly the cult grows ever larger, and the beating of the Philosopher's Heart sounds louder and louder with every passing day...

Among the riff-raff and the other members of this so-called ultimate organization, are the gifted individuals who they themselves decide where their fate lies. These gifted individuals must use their talents and powers, and must purse their goals, whatever they may be, to keep the righteous drum beating of The Philosopher's Heart pumping, and the great city of Neo-Nowhere alive. The path may be long, and their destinies may be uncertain, but these individuals hold the power in their hands to make Neo-Nowhere what they wish it to be: an endless paradise, an anarchist's playground, or an even more threatening gateway to hell?

The question lies: What will you make it?

I do like the idea that the city is endless and it.. changes to keep one in.
Like a neverending path.
Just when you think you're out, the turn that should be toward the exit leads you right back to the center of the city.

I did this to avoid having outside interference from other places and to keep the city the main point of interest. In further segments of the story, I may have segments where the characters travel to different locales, but for the most part, the city will be the main roaming ground for everyone.
